New York is well known for it’s jazz scene, despite not having the tradition of Chicago or New Orleans, of course.
The following list featured some of New York’s jazz favorites places.

Enter the site of each house to see the covert values and entry.

CAFÉ CARLYLE

Woddy Allen is one of those new yorkers characters, famous for his movies, life and, if you dind’t know, for his music as well.

He plays the clarinet on  Woody Allen and The Eddy Davis Orleans Jazz Band. The covert is US$125. You have to make reservations and sooner the better, the place is tiny. If they are all booked, you can try getting there at 5h00pm and try one of the chairs over the bar, but there are only 8.

:: Carlyle Hotel 35 E 76th St

SMALLS

As the name says it, its a tiny place, and one of my favorite jazz house in New York. Don’t get scared with the cat, he owns the place.

JAZZ AT MARJORIE ELIOT’S

It’s all about the music and the intimacy. This jazz session have taken place at Marjorie Eliot’s house for 22 years, every single sunday. There is no coverage, but (well deserve) tips are much accepted. The music runs from 3h00 pm to 5h30 pm. Whenever you get by the building you will find a note with the instructions to get in.

This is the place you have to go. Have to.

SMOKE

One of the classics jazz clubs in New York City. Check the schedule on the site, with dining option entry.

FAT CAT

In the best basement style with sofas and armchairs to stay right by the bands of experimental jazz. Besides music, has pool tables, ping-pong and geek games… If you are short of money, it’s a great program. Always my destination.

:: 75 Christopher Street

BLUE NOTE

It is auto entitled as “the jazz capital of the world”. It’s a bit expensive, and touristy, but the quality is undeniable.

:: 75 Christopher Street
